IBM India launches first Tivoli “Center of Excellence” at Jaipur
Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology Management & Gramothan to foster innovation

Rajasthan, Jaipur April 3, 2008: IBM India today launched the first Tivoli Centre of Excellence (COE) at Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology Management & Gramothan, Ramnagaria (Jagatpura), Jaipur to enable the institute to train and build a skilled resource base on leading software technologies. Till now IBM has three other Centres of Excellence in India - Rational, IM & Websphere.
The Centre will provide a unique opportunity for students to enhance their skill set on technologies relevant in the market outside and understand IBM products and develop world class solutions. IBM will follow a twin pronged approach of one enabling the college have access to the technologies relevant to the market, second training faculty to ensure that right skills are taught to the students thereby enabling the  students to gain first hand experience on Tivoli that is installed in the college for the students.
Through this initiative, IBM will work closely with the universities in and around Jaipur, making Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology Management & Gramothan, Ramnagaria as the centre of learning. The students will be able to work on various Information Management products such as Tivoli Asset Manager, Identity Manager, Tivoli Storage Manager V5.3, IBM Tivoli Express, Maximo etc.
Inaugurating the Tivoli CoE at the institute, Manojit Majumdar, Country Manager - developerWorks/Academic Initiative/Globalization, IBM India/ SA said, “Many local industries as well as government organizations who would like to work on such technologies but do not have the requisite infrastructure to run and check these solutions out, they can work with the college and work on a prototype before deciding to implement such infrastructure solutions in their organization. This will help the academia contribute towards the development of the local industry.”
Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology Management & Gramothan would provide infrastructure and high end system while IBM is providing the entire Information Management software suite free of charge.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. S R Meel, Chairman, Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology Management & Gramothan, Jaipur said, “Innovation is the need of the hour. Initiatives like these ensure that students develop right skills that are appropriate for the industry. We are confident that the COE at our institute would enable skill set development among students for years to come by exposing them to new and emerging technologies. We look forward to joint collaboration with IBM which will give students an opportunity to partner with some of the best minds across the world, to further refine these technologies by taking it to the next level”.
The Centre of Excellence is an outgrowth of IBM's Academic Initiative which covers 2,000 colleges and universities around the world -- a global model committed to drive evolving open standards-based IT skills. Under the initiative IBM partner closely with the local government and academia to create an enabling environment by allowing free access to IBM software, discounted hardware, course materials, training and curriculum development, helping India become an innovators’ nation by investing in skills development and technology enablement, empowering future workers with the right skills to be able to compete in the larger global workforce.
