To boost entrepreneurship, SKIT, Jaipur, launched week long celebrations on and off campus- 'E-Week 2013' in association with NEN on 09 February. The celebrations were launched on campus by Mr. Naren Bakshi- well renowned Indian
American Serial entrepreneur and an investor, mentor of repute, based in the Silicon Valley and Mr. P N Bhandari. On the occasion, the eminent personalities also addressed the students and talked about the importance to promote innovation especially in Engineering colleges and thus, entrepreneurship. They further stressed the need for creating a supportive ecosystem to nurture entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship is not a new subject at SKIT, Jaipur. Over the years of its existence, SKIT has always given entrepreneurship development on campus its due place. SKIT, Jaipur is committed to producing technocrats on its sprawling campus at Jaipur. The institute realizes that majority of the students graduating from its hallowed portals will inevitably start their careers as employees of some of the top firms that recruit students from SKIT's engineering and MBA programs. However, the importance of entrepreneurship is not lost on the SKIT management.
Taking the initiative further, Mr. Rajiv Arora- spokesperson for PCC and promoted of Amrapali, joined in the celebrations on Day 6 of the event and shared his story of entrepreneurship with the students. The students of SKIT, Jaipur learnt firsthand the nuances and challenges that young budding entrepreneurs face stressing on the need for resilience against all odds as the key to realise one's dreams.
Over the years, SKIT has collaborated with NEN (National entrepreneurship Network) through its various on campus programs to provide students at SKIT with a flair for entrepreneurship. Mr. Jaipal Meel, Director, SKIT, Jaipur feels, "The country needs many entrepreneurs to lead the way if our country is to sustain the economic activity that India has seen for more than a decade now. Promoting entrepreneurship is SKIT's way of contributing towards the same". SKIT in a first at Jaipur has reached an understanding with TiE (The Indus entrepreneurs)- a global entrepreneurship network headquartered in the US, for development of entrepreneurship on campus. "We look forward to building a vibrant platform for our students that will bring to them real life entrepreneurs in India and the world, fostering an entrepreneurial streak in our students at SKIT, Jaipur", says, Mrs Rachna Meel, Registrar, SKIT, Jaipur.
The week long student led event will mobilise the students of the college to spread the message of entrepreneurship. The event also is aimed at promoting the theme "Innovating for India" as part of the E-week celebrations. As part of the event, the students will organise numerous activities around the city to include nukkad nataks, eco-friendly rallies, graffiti contests, and human chains, decorate a road, quizzes and many others to spread the message. On campus, during the week many a well known entrepreneurs of the city will participate in numerous knowledge sharing and mentoring sessions. Summing up the mood at the campus, Gautam Sihag, a student at SKIT and an E-leader, stressed the good work being done on the campus by the Entrepreneurship cell at the campus that creates a positive learning environment to give flight to student led projects and helps them realise their dreams and ideas into reality through sustained workshops and a rich industry- institute interface.
