OPTICA STUDENT CHAPTER
The SKIT OSA student chapter was inaugurated by Prof. V Sinha, Retired professor IIT Kanpur in the “Faculty development program on Advances in optical communication” on 11th February 2019. Prof. S L Surana (Director- Academics, SKIT), Prof. Ramesh Pachar ( Principal, SKIT), Prof Ghanshyam Singh, ( Professor MNIT Jaipur) also grace the event. The members of OSA student chapter are enlightened with the basics of optical communication and its recent advances in the related field. In the inaugural address, Professor Sinha stressed upon the paradigm changes from basics of Optical Fiber to the recent developments and research in photonic integrated circuits. Prof Singh guided the students about the importance of OSA student chapter and highlighted the benefits of being a student member of OSA.
OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of this Chapter are:
• To promote awareness of optical science and optical engineering among the student and local communities,
• To facilitate communication and interaction between students, faculty, administration and industry professionals
• To interact with Optical Society of America members and its student organizations with a focus on information sharing and networking,
• To raise awareness of post-graduation opportunities for students.
• To develop technical knowledge, leadership experience and lasting relationships with peers and mentors.

- A workshop on Quantum Computing was held on 11 Oct 2023 and 18 Oct 2023
- An interactive session on “Importance of Electronics and Communication Engineering in Social Development-3.0” was held on 22-01-2022.

- A member of SKIT OSA Chapter (Mr. Anshul Kothari) was nominated to participate in a Student Leadership Conference (SLC) + Frountier in Optics (FiO), an international Conference in between 13th September to 19th September occurring in two parts held by the OSA community.
- Guest lecture by Professor Alessandro M. Deana was organized on 2-07-2019.
